Commercial Insurance

It doesn't matter how long you've owned your business or how successful it's become, it's your baby, and you want to do all you can to keep it from harm. That's where The Richardson Agency can help you. We like to think we're the agency for all seasons and all reasons, and if you think that's just our opinion, ask any of the small business owners who come to us for advice about their commercial insurance needs. They know we'll steer them in the right direction. And we'll do the same for you.

Our clients may own boutiques, farms, or gyms, provide local citizens and visitors with home-style Southern meals, or provide plumbing or HVAC services; all very different, but they have one thing in common. They know that accidents happen, and every day comes to the possibility that a customer may fall or an employee may damage property in a home he is servicing.

As a result, their business will be held liable for medical expenses, property repair, or replacement costs. In a worst-case scenario, where they don't have sufficient liability insurance to cover these costs, they may face a lawsuit in court. The same goes for you, but while you may know you need liability insurance but are unsure which type, that's an easy answer.

Types of Liability Insurance
  • If you deal with customers face to face, you need General Liability Insurance, including bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage.

  • If you provide professional service or advice, you need Professional Liability Insurance. Since this type of insurance covers you if a client says they suffered harm because you did something wrong or didn't provide the service as promised, it is sometimes called Errors and Omissions Insurance.

  • If your business requires you to have tools, computers, or other types of business equipment, you should have a Business Owners' Liability Policy which combines equipment protection with general liability.

Although you may not regard it as commercial insurance, if your business employs repair or delivery drivers, the state requires 25/50/25 automobile liability insurance which translates to a limit of $25,000 in bodily injury per person, a maximum of $50,000 for all bodily injuries suffered in an accident and a maximum of $25,000 liability per accident for property damage.
